As if the mysteries surrounding Israel's raid on an alleged Syrian nuclear facility and subsequent revelations about North Korean complicity in a reported cash-for-reactor deal were not cloak-and-dagger enough, Chris Nelson - the uber insider political newsletter scribe behind The Nelson Report and whose contacts in the national security establishment are stellar - reports the rumor that the video showed by the CIA to Capitol Hill lawmakers may have been "doctored."

Some are arguing that there is a "pixel mismatch." Arghhh... You have to be kidding!

Nelson points out that this should be easy to check, but the real issue here is not whether the video is completely fake (which I don't believe it is) but rather that the well has been badly poisoned before on false intel allegations and that the bar now is very high before presented data is trusted. Nelson also notes that the video ID of the so-called North Korea nuclear expert is wrong.

Maybe this intel show wasn't ready for prime time after all - which then begs the question of why the rush.

A Syrian statement said: "The U.S. administration was apparently party to the execution" of the September raid by Israeli warplanes on eastern Syria. The statement did not give details. A U.S. official said on Thursday that Washington did not give Israel any "green light" to strike the area.

Pakistani main media outlets have accused the Bush administration of planning to launch a military action against the country.

The Pakistani daily Nawa-i-Waqt accused US President George W. Bush of 'directly targeting' Pakistan.

"President George Bush's latest interview is proof that Pakistan is a direct target of the US, which wants to maintain pressure on Pakistan on some pretext or other so that its illegitimate demands are met [and] wants to keep its options open for a direct [military] action in Pakistan," the daily wrote.

"[The US'] unjustified support of Israel, its occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq, [and its] hostile ambitions against Pakistan, Iran, Syria and other Muslim countries [are the reasons why] Muslim people of the world, especially youth, are inflamed," it added.

The daily Jasarat wrote in an editorial that the threat of a US attack on Pakistan is imminent, and that the roots of the internal and external dangers currently facing Pakistan lie in its role as the ally of the US in the War on Terror.

Also, the Peshawar-based Urdu-language newspaper Roznama Mashriq accused the US of spreading unjustified anti-Pakistan propaganda.

George W. Bush had earlier told the ABC News that it is possible that a 9/11-like attack on the US is being planned inside Pakistan.

Syria says it will soon present "irrefutable" proof of who killed Hezbollah commander Imad Mughniyeh on Tuesday.

On Thursday, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah blamed Israel for the blast and warned it was ready for "open war".

Mughniyeh's death had "assassinated all efforts for peace" between Syria and Israel.

The two countries remain technically at war and tensions between them have risen in recent months, with Israeli jets violating Syrian airspace and the government demanding Damascus abandon its support for Hezbollah.

The Iranian Foreign Minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, was, however, adamant that Israel lay behind Tuesday's bombing.

"The Zionist entity will not harvest the fruit," he warned.

Mr Moualem's comments came hours after Sheikh Nasrallah blamed Israel for his death and said its war against the Jewish state was not over.

"Zionists, if you want this sort of open war, then let the whole world hear, so be it!" he told crowds of mourners at Mughniyeh's funeral in Beirut.

Sheikh Nasrallah said that Israel thought that killing "would lead to the destruction of the resistance... but they are wrong".

Hosseini described this heinous act as a typical example of the organized crimes

The Iranian Spokesman asserted the legitimacy of resistance against occupiers and called on the international community to stand up to the Zionist regime's atrocities.

"Mughniya, who spent his life fighting against occupiers, will forever remain an outstanding figure in the history of Lebanese resistance against Zionist aggressors," Hosseini maintained.

He went on to offer his condolences to the Lebanese nation and the resistance movement.
